Judson offers many ways to get involved in the community beyond the Sunday morning worship service. Some activities are occasional, others regularly scheduled. Because the Church has a small paid staff, much of the work that sustains our community life comes from volunteers within the community.

Second Helpings

We give ourselves an extra helping of spiritual nourishment by learning, serving, and playing together outside of the normal church activities. Whether an old-timer or here for the first time, all are welcome to join in. Call the church office with ideas and to volunteer. Past Second Helping events have included attending movies, plays, and lectures, and joining other community groups for community service projects.

Judson Weekend
The Weekend, sometimes called the Retreat, is a community tradition held each September. It is a week-end in the country with Judson friends where we can have some time together to get acquainted with each other and talk about our life and ministry as the Judson community. There is a choice of informal activities and discussion opportunities and the entire community gathers for a beloved Saturday night party and a Sunday morning worship service. For more information on The Weekend, please send an email to Weekend Chair Allison Squires

Congregational Meals
Worshiping together, singing together, working together, deliberating together, and occasionally arguing together are common aspects of our community life. Another is eating together. The Thanksgiving shared meal (on the Sunday before the national holiday), the Christmas "Stone Soup" celebration, and the Easter shared meal are the traditional times when folks bring in food to share.

Congregational Meetings
Since Judson is a congregationally-governed church, all members are encouraged to attend Congregational Meetings. These are held about four times a year, immediately after Sunday worship, in the Assembly Hall at 239 Thompson Street. At these meetings, essential information is shared on church activities, budgets, and future plans, and necessary votes are taken.
