Thanks to generous donors, Judson was able to
- Display a custom-designed banner on the construction scaffolding on three sides of the building, to enhance Judson’s visibility during this first construction phase;
- Commission a Conditions Study to give us an estimate of our building’s capital needs for the next 25 years, to make realistic Building Fund projections for the future;
- Restore and repaint the deteriorating wooden frames around all 13 of our priceless LaFarge stained-glass windows, add copper sills, and tighten the Plexiglas protectors;
- Inspect, evaluate, and repoint the brick and terra-cotta walls, repair cracked terra-cotta pillars and cornices, and stabilize the cornices with stainless-steel pins;
- Clean the roof-edge copper gutters and cover their solder joints with elastomeric strips to avoid cracking, and correct a faulty drainage condition in the wall by the front door;
- Restore and refinish the massive oak front door with an added a brass kick-plate and new brass fittings, and correct the sag and faulty closing of the 243 Thompson St. door;
- Upgrade security by installing a key-pad entry system and new intercom system at the 243 Thompson St. entry;
- Repair the deteriorated brick pillar bases in the Meeting Room and prepare to install new brass bumper-rails around the marble bases;.
- Retain an experienced fundraiser to help us reach out to old friends and new in all our communities, to help underwrite the next phase of our capital improvement plans.
